It’s been four years since the former Bishop of Cyangugu Diocese Mgr Jean Damascene BIMENYIMANA passed away. This Friday 11th March 2022 they were ceremony of remembering him at the cathedral of Cyangugu.
It is ceremony started by the celebration of holy mass , offered by Mgr Edouard SINAYOBYE, Bishop of Cyangugu Diocese. This ceremony was attended by family members of Late Bishop Jean Damascène , different convents, local authorities, some christians of Cyangugu Diocese and friends.
In his preach Bishop Edouard highlighted the good deeds of Bishop Jean Damascene especially his heroic acts that presented him until his last breath.
In testimony presented by one of priest who lived together with Bishop Jean Damascene in the bishop’s palace; in that testimony, Father Théogène focused on Mgr Jean Damascène’s humility to the level of apologizing to the priests he was leading. He continued saying that his life was characterized by caring, listening and hospitality. As his motto said it “In humilitate et caritate” Bishop Damascene lived in tranquility and love all accompanied with humility. After holy mass the cloud continuing leaving flowers on his grave for honoring and wishing him to rest in peace.
Cyangugu Diocese proudly remember Bishop Jean Damascene who served his best in his Episcopal responsibilities until the end.
May his soul rest in eternal life.
